I loved collaborating with this high school senior for his portrait session. He is a creative… a talented musician, artist, and loves photography. I really wanted to capture who he is, and in a style that he would love. Mission accomplished.

I loved this family’s idea for their portrait session… at home, riding their cruisers on their street, hanging out together and enjoying life. This may be my favorite family session ever… I kinda want them to adopt me…

Even their cat wanted in on the fun!

Their porch is so inviting and fun… you just want to have a seat & hang out.

I asked the boys what they liked to do & collect so we could show it in their portraits – I love what they brought out!

I am always honored to have clients contact me to photograph their family each year, and it is extra special when they have a new baby to introduce me to! I loved photographing this sweet family in their home!

I believe that natural light is very flattering for portraits, and it works great for headshot sessions. This fabulous Salt Lake City realtor needed updated headshots to use for marketing materials, and we had fun at this downtown location full of color!

It was so fun to meet Priya – I had the honor of photographing this senior’s older sister a few years ago! Such a great family, and smart daughters! Here are some favorites from her Spring session in one of my favorite locations…

For Mother’s Day, I asked my three boys to pose for a portrait for me – no complaints, and they delivered! I love that these look like they were shot in a studio… because they were actually shot in our garage with no additional lighting!

I had heard in a few photography courses years ago that garages are a great place to take portraits due to the lighting conditions it creates.  (The garage also worked out to be the perfect place to shoot today because it was raining.) If you’d like to try this, place your subject near the edge of the garage, and have them step back until they are not in direct sunlight. Their eyes will have gorgeous catchlights from the amount of light let in through the wide open door.

My boys were just a few feet inside of the garage facing the open door. I stood  about 2-3 feet away, at about the edge of the garage. As you can see in the pull backs, they were sitting in-between our vehicles, so there were a few distractions in the background that I used photoshop to minimize afterward. I’d recommend an empty garage to avoid that. I’ll definitely shoot there again!
