At home portrait session | Salt Lake City newborn photographer
I am always honored to have clients contact me to photograph their family each year, and it is extra special when they have a new baby to introduce me to! I loved photographing this sweet family in their home!
Garage Portraits | Utah portrait photographer
For Mother’s Day, I asked my three boys to pose for a portrait for me – no complaints, and they delivered! I love that these look like they were shot in a studio… because they were actually shot in our garage with no additional lighting!
I had heard in a few photography courses years ago that garages are a great place to take portraits due to the lighting conditions it creates. (The garage also worked out to be the perfect place to shoot today because it was raining.) If you’d like to try this, place your subject near the edge of the garage, and have them step back until they are not in direct sunlight. Their eyes will have gorgeous catchlights from the amount of light let in through the wide open door.
My boys were just a few feet inside of the garage facing the open door. I stood about 2-3 feet away, at about the edge of the garage. As you can see in the pull backs, they were sitting in-between our vehicles, so there were a few distractions in the background that I used photoshop to minimize afterward. I’d recommend an empty garage to avoid that. I’ll definitely shoot there again!
These were shot with my Canon 24-70L at 50mm, F2.8.

1st Birthday : Lumberjack birthday party
I just have to share images from this adorable 1st birthday party that I was hired to photograph. I was just dying over every fun detail! The theme was lumberjack! I know… So so cute! Jameson’s mom Emigh is so creative, I want her to style my parties!
Guests were told in their invitations to wear plaid, which made for great photos & fun colors!
Square prints from the birthday boy’s first year were printed through Parabo.
Emigh repurposed pieces and parts of her Christmas tree for the decor! Great idea! A little kraft paper & some pinecones and Bam! Photo backdrop!
Don’t you love these jars & birch straws? Tree trunk coasters… fabulous!
Jameson looking cute with his parents. A knit hat with a “beard” was the perfect gift from his uncle.
Vintage lumberjack prints were a fun addition to the cake area!
What a handsome little lumberjack!
Happy Birthday Jameson!
Utah Bonneville Salt Flats family portrait session
I love photographing families on Utah’s Bonneville salt flats! This extended family session was a lot of fun – the kids loved to run on and explore the flats.
Great Salt Lake family portrait session
Sunset on the Great Salt Lake …
One of my very best friends and her awesome family! I had to pick the perfect location for their family portraits, and this one is amazing. There was a bit of snow on the mountains in the background, and being California natives they loved being on the beach – even in December!
Winter portrait session | Salt Lake City family photographer
This adorable family was excited to see their little 11 month old’s reaction to snow, and I have to say it was pretty dang cute! New to snow and learning to walk… what a fun family session!
When he busted out this little toothy grin I just about fell over from the cuteness!
Learning to walk is a challenge in snow… but a fun one!
Beach family session | Salt Lake City family photographer
This family, this location… I love it! Lots of smiles & fun when there is room to roam & run! A Winter beach session in Utah!
