Say Anything : Utah Family Photographer

This cute couple met on this corner as they crossed the street 7 years ago. He told me that he knew he had to say something at that moment or he never would get the chance again. Fast forward to today… they have a beautiful 2 yr old daughter and wanted to shoot their first family session in this special spot.

Their daughter, Victoria is just adorable…

Sweet family…

Kris & Kevin : Hawaii Destination Wedding Photographer

Kris & Kevin were married on the beautiful grounds of the Ko’olau Golf Club in Kaneohe, HI on the 17th of September. Everything about their special day makes me smile… family, friends, laughter, tears of joy. Their plans for a gorgeous and memorable wedding on the island that Kris’ parents grew up on and fell in love, came together perfectly. It is really hard to keep this post short, so I give up… I have too many favorites, here are a “few”.

All marriages should start out with such a unique, handmade map to guide the newlyweds…

The Utes were playing BYU (huge rivalry) during the wedding. Guests and ahem… parents were checking scores throughout the day. Kris’ parents were even interviewed by KSL Sports News in Salt Lake City just before heading out to Oahu. See their fun interview & Kris & Kevin’s engagement images in the sports highlights here…  http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=17251584

I love you. I love you more. I love you most.

Those were the words Kris & Kevin said to each other at the end of their reception. So sweet, I know! Cue… tears.

Cheers to a healthy and happy life together!

Kris & Kevin

Kris & Kevin have been busy traveling the world together since they met.

They both love Disneyland, and the happiest place on earth is where Kevin proposed.

These two carry that feeling of happiness wherever they go. They are so in love… in a make each other blush, giggling, hold hands kind of way. So sweet.

Well, it’s finally here… after a year and a half of planning their destination wedding in Hawaii, they will be celebrating their love with family and friends this weekend. I am so excited for you! Cheers to a long and happy life together!

Banner & Harry… part 2

More favorites from Banner & Harry’s session.  A bit of romance…

Passion, mystery… I absolutely love this one!

Banner’s orange heels turn on the heat!

I love the sweetness of this photo below… and the sun setting against all of those windowpanes.

This one below was really fun to shoot.  I wanted to play with proportion & composition, and I just love how this turned out!  I just kept asking Harry to “back up a little more…”

Banner’s expression and stance is fabulous, she looks like a superhero

Thank you Harry & Banner for sharing your story with me.  I really loved getting to tell it through photographs.  Your session was absolutely a blast!

What’s your story?

Banner & Harry… part 1

I’m a sucker for a good love story…

When Banner was 5 years old, her family was stationed at an Air Force base in northern Italy, in a small town near Lake Garda.  They lived in the same apartment complex as the owner of a restaurant, and once a week, her family and a group of friends would meet at the restaurant to have dinner.  She has childhood photos standing in the old buildings (built in the 1500’s) amongst wine barrels and cows on the farm.  The restaurant, Mirrabello, and the family that owns it are still near & dear to her heart.

The first time she met Harry, she was bussing tables at Mirrabello during a visit back to Desenzano.  One of the owner’s daughters, and whom Banner used to play with as a young child, asked her to bring drinks to Harry’s table because they were English speaking (he is from the UK).  There were about 10 people there with him, but Chiara pointed her in Harry’s direction because she knew that they both enjoy rock climbing.  She was right, and they hit it off immediately.  But that was that.   She returned to her life in the U.S.

A year later, Banner returned.  Traveling to Italy this time was for a much needed break, an escape.  A time start a new, fresh chapter in her life.  One night, Harry and a friend came into Mirrabella after a snowboarding trip for a late dinner.

(insert falling in love here…)

…and the rest is history!  After many phone calls, emails, visits and flight miles, Harry moved to the USA, and they were married this past spring.

True story.

Driving by this historic train station in Salt Lake City this summer, I thought of my own honeymoon, where we spent 4 weeks traveling by train in Italy.  There is something romantic and quaintly old fashioned about train travel…  It made me think of Harry and Banner’s story, and I knew they were the perfect couple for this location.  Their session was really fun because of the energy they brought to it.  They were incredibly relaxed and natural in front of the camera, and what I really loved was that you could really see how they feel about each other every time their eyes met.

I want to thank a couple of good friends of mine that assisted with this photo shoot…
